The last decision we received from the OIR Review Unit took approximately 22 weeks from the date the review was lodged. The Legislation requires a decision to be made in 35 Business days. Are other Self Insurers having the same experience. Have you found ways to get some priority for your cases. What do you advise the worker in regards to Review Unit Time frames.
Hi Bill, we have ablut 10 matters outstanding at the moment the oldest of which was lodged on 7/02/20. Ironically that matter is a straight forward injury, we have several psych claims which are all likely to be outsourced by the Regulator due to their complexity. The frustrationg issue for us is when they release a submisission from the applicant which they have been sitting on for months, they expect a response within 7 days. I don’t have any answer for you as we are all in the one boat on this and is really a resourcing issue.
Thanks Dean, the feedback is greatly appreciated. This issue has existed for sometime, recently they brought Jonathon Shield back to oversee the management of the area. If we can get a few more examples from other Self Insured Employers I can arrange a meeting with the Director/Manager of the review unit to discuss the issues that need to be addressed.
I have more been tolerant of the delays as whoever they have been briefing the matters to were not randomly setting aside our decisions. Hope i haven’t put the mocker on myself now with that statement.
